A Change in Plans
So Sarnaa has done what he can and the US Embassy did what they could, but he is now traveling south to Kenya. He will be put in jail if he over-stays his welcome in Ethiopia. Instead of Addis Ababa and Dukem he will being ministering in Nairobi for the time being. What does that mean for our mission team? It means that we will be ministering in Nairobi as well. One way or another we'll get there (whether by bus from Addis Ababa or flying to Nairobi directly-working on that now)! Sarnaa has a close friend, Mark Kaigwa, who leads a youth ministry organization in Nairobi. All the things we've been preparing to do in Ethiopia can be done more effectively in Kenya. There is even opportunity to partner with a ministry to AIDS victims and their families. So God has provided lots of work and opportunity to us, even though it looks like he changed the country we're going to. Pray that Sarnaa would be provided for; he's currently working out a way to get to Kenya before his 15 day time limit is up. Pray that he is able to continue God's work in Kenya. Pray for God to clear the path for us to minister in Kenya. You may be asking yourself, why can't Will just plan a trip that doesn't have all these snags and changes? This is the mission field. Ministry is all about flexibility, and this doesn't even hurt us. It only increases the amount of ministry we can do. Praise be to God and pray for Sarnaa.
